Do I need a study permit for a three months diploma course from Canadian University?
For programs/course those last less than 6 months, ideally you do not need a study permit. However, it is always suggested to get a study permit for every course, because if during your stay in Canada, you wish to peruse for another course, you will have to apply for further visa, for which you would have to leave Canada and start the process from the beginning. It is always safe to get the Study permit which can be renewed as and when required from Canada as well.
Can I work in Canada in my Student Visa?
A student holding valid student visa may be able to work in Canada during the course of study under the following categories:
- On campus without a Work Permit
- Off campus with a Work Permit
- In Co-op and Internship Programs, where work experience is part of the curriculum, with a Work Permit
What does Study permit entitles to do?
Study permits automatically authorize the holders to work off-campus for up to 20 hours per week during the academic session. However during the scheduled breaks, they can work full-time without the need to apply for a separate work permit. Study permit also gives the holder the right to remain in Canada for the duration of the permit which is between 1 to 4 years.
What is the approximate tuition fee of Canadian universities?
The tuition fee can vary for every college and university.
On an average the annual fee ranges between 14000-16000 Canadian dollars approximately. There is a separate visa office fee also that has to be paid by the student for getting the study visa for Canada once he/she meets the educational qualifications and other requirements of a particular selected course and gets letter of confirmation from the institute. The semester and annual fee of the university/college has to be paid in advance and it is refundable with a nominal deduction in case of non-issuance of visa.
Can I work part time along with studying?
Yes, students are permitted to work along 20 hours off-campus every week with the studies on a part-time basis.
