EXPRESS ENTRY -

Express Entry is an online system used by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to manage and process applications for skilled workers who want to become permanent residents of Canada through three of Canada’s federal economic immigration programs for skilled workers:

The Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWC)
The Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
The Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC).

It is a competitive immigration system, ranking all eligible candidates against one another based on their age, education, language proficiency, work experience & other factors and then inviting the high-ranking candidates to apply for Canadian permanent residence through regular draws.

Eligibility Requirements

In order to eligible to apply under Express Entry Program, the applicant must:

have a minimum 1 year of continuous work experience in the last 10 years in the skill level O, A or B under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) list;
meet or exceed the minimum language threshold of Canadian language benchmark (CLB) as per the program requirement;
hold a Canadian educational credential equivalent to high school or a foreign educational credential along with an educational credential assessment (ECA) report must be provided from a designated agency.

How Express Entry works

Determine Eligibility in one of the three economic immigration programs: Potential applicants will need to be eligible for one of the three immigration programs in Express Entry to get into the pool.
Create an Express Entry profile: Eligible candidates are required to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) by creating a profile in Express Entry portal summarizing their skills and credentials including Age, Education, Language, Work Experience, and others.

Providing valid language test results and ECA report are mandatory to submit with the application.

Following submission, eligible candidates are entered into a pool of applicants, where Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) will be automatically applicable and applicants will be ranked on a scale of 1200 points. The higher a candidate’s CRS score, the higher the likelihood they will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA).

Job bank

Candidates in the Express Entry pool can create an account on the Canada Job Bank, which eligible Canadian employers can use to find skilled foreign nationals and offer them a position.

If you claim a full-time Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) approved job offer under Express Entry, you can now get:

200 CRS points for NOC 00 jobs
50 CRS points for any other NOC 0, A and B jobs

Receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA): IRCC conducts Express Entry draws at regular intervals usually every two weeks and invites candidates above a certain rank to apply for Canadian permanent residence.
Submit application for permanent residence to IRCC: Candidates, who receive Invitations to Apply (ITAs), are given 60 days to submit a complete online application for permanent residence. In this application, candidates will have to provide extensive personal information along with supporting documentation.

How Express Entry profile points determined

Candidates are given a score to determine their place in the express entry pool using a Comprehensive Ranking System. Your Express Entry profile will get points based on:

Your age;
Your education level;
Your abilities in English and/or French (Canada’s 2 official languages);
Your work experience and skills;
If you have a job offer in Canada;
your spouse’s education, language abilities and work experience; and
Combination of above factors.

Additional points are also awarded if you have completed a college or university program in Canada or if you have a provincial nomination.

Under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), an employer has the liberty to nominate a limited number of candidates for certain skilled positions and further make an application to a participating state for sponsorship of the work permit for Canada. The following requirements apply under a Provincial Nominee program:

A position that cannot be filled by a citizen of Canada or a Permanent Resident
The position is full-time and permanent
The position is offered to a candidate who possesses the required qualifications
The position is offered to a candidate who possesses the required work experience
The position satisfies provincial nominee employment and wage standards.

While all the above mentioned territories and provinces have different PNP requirements to be met in order to gain sponsorship for a Canada work visa, there are certain essential requirements which are present in every case.

After obtaining sponsorship from a province under the Provincial Nominee Program, you will then be required to make a formal application to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) for your Permanent Resident Visa. It is essential to keep in mind that sponsorship from any one of the above mentioned territories or provinces does not guarantee the approval of your Permanent Resident Visa. The final decision lies in the hands of Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

In addition to the basic criteria for qualification, you and your family will also be required to meet the following requirements to gain approval for a Permanent Resident Visa to Canada:

Take a medical exam
Provide evidence of good character
Abide by Canadian and Provincial laws

A person who is a Permanent Resident of Canada can sponsor a person as his/ her spouse if that person is married to the Permanent Resident (and the marriage performed in a legal service). A marriage between two persons of the same sex will also be recognized for immigration purposes, if the marriage was legally performed in Canada, or was performed outside of Canada in a country where marriage between two persons of the same sex is legally recognized.

Dependent Child Visa

Canadian parents. This visa allows Canadian citizens and permanent Canadian residents to apply to sponsor their or their partner’s dependent or adopted children who are of 19 yrs of age or below. Common-Law Partner Visa
By applying for the Common-Law Partner visa, eligible applicant can stay with his/her partner (same and opposite sex) in Canada. According to this program, Canadian citizens and permanent Canadian residents can sponsor their common-law partner and (eligible) dependent children. The sponsor should intend to live with applicant and support his/her financially. Once approved, the applicant can live, study and work in Canada for an indefinite period.

Conjugal Partner Visa
Partners separated by war, discrimination or any other legal barriers can reunite via Conjugal partner Visa. This visa allows eligible (same and opposite-sex) partners to stay with his/her Canadian partner. As per this program, Canadian citizens or permanent Canadian residents can apply to sponsor their conjugal partners and dependent children. Parental & Grandparental Visa
A Parental and Grandparental visa program allows parents and grand-parents to be sponsored by their Canadian children and grandchildren to live in Canada. The sponsors should be Canadian citizens or permanent Canadian residents. CIC will open the registration under this program in starting of every year, but only those whose number is randomly selected can apply under the program. The Canadian sponsor should be prepared to live in Canada with the applicant and support them monetarily without having any access to public funds. On approval, the applicant will be permitted to live study and work in Canada, in addition to permanent residency.

Remaining Relative Visa
Fostering the family reunification policy, Canada offers Remaining Relative visa to reunite families. Canadians who do not have any immediate family relatives in Canada or abroad, can sponsor an extended relative from abroad. Through this program, Canadian citizen and permanent Canadian resident is allowed to sponsor one relative regardless of age or relationship under the family category. Upon approval, the remaining relative will be entitled for permanent residency, work and study in Canada.

Family-Based Provincial Nominee Visa
This Family-Based Provincial Nominee visa program allows permanent residents or Canadian citizens located in specified provinces to sponsor their eligible relatives for permanent residency in Canada.

Apply for a Tourist Visa:

- Visitor Visa
Also known as a Temporary Resident Visa, which can be applied online or through paper application.
1. Online – To apply online, you must have electronic copies of your documents (education certificates, valid employment & medical records) required for uploading along with passport and a valid credit card for payment.
2. Paper – To apply on paper for a Tourist Visa, you must first get an application package. Fill out all the details in the form and attach the required documents. Next step will be to pay the application fees and finally submit your application file for further processing.
- Tourist Visa Application:
Most applications for Tourist Visa are processed within a few weeks or less. However, the processing time depends on the immigration office.

Once you have submitted the application, it is thoroughly reviewed by the immigration officer to ensure it is complete and has all the required documents. In case, if the application is incomplete, it is sent back for completion.

After the application process is completed, the immigration officer may ask for the following documents:-
- Medical Examination – You may be asked to get a thorough medical checkup done before being eligible for entry into Canada. Instructions will be sent to you by the officer. Note – If you need a medical exam, it may take long for your application to process. In addition, you need to have a proper Health Insurance for any emergencies, as if you fall sick or get injured during your travel sojourns, the Canadian government won’t bear any of your medical expenses.
- Police Certificate – It is possible that you may be asked to provide a police certificate to authenticate that you do not have any criminal records or trial cases pending against you.
- Interview – If a visa officer decides that an interview is necessary before your travel, you will be intimated about the time and date of the same.

Tuition Fee

Even as the tuition fee can vary for every college and university, on an average the annual fee ranges between 14000-16000 Canadian dollars approximately.
